Silhouette is the third-largest island in the Seychelles and one of the wildest, a soaring, forested peak rising straight from the sea inside a protected national park. There is one resort on it, long known as the Hilton Seychelles Labriz and now under a new name, spread along a fine beach on the sheltered east coast.
Reached by boat from Mahé, the island feels a world apart. Behind the resort the mountain climbs into cloud forest laced with trails, while offshore the reefs and the surrounding marine park make it a genuine dive and snorkel base.
Beaches, forest and a great dive base
The resort itself runs along the sand with villas among the palms, a spa, several restaurants and one of the best dive operations in the islands. The mix of a large protected island, a single resort and easy access to both mountain trails and reef is rare in Seychelles.
It suits divers, walkers and couples who want a striking natural setting and a proper sense of escape, on an island where the resort has the whole shoreline largely to itself.
