Morne Seychellois National Park
Morne Seychellois National Park covers the central mountains of Mahé — 30km² of granite peaks, cloud forest, endemic plants, and 12 maintained trails. The highest point is Morne Seychellois itself at 905m. From the right viewpoints you can see both coasts of the island at once.
The park starts on the Sans Souci road that climbs from Victoria across to the west coast. Most trails leave from car parks along this road. The visitor centre at Sans Souci has maps and can book guides for the harder trails.
Best for
Hikers, naturalists, photographers, anyone who wants to see Mahé from above.
When to go
Year-round. Dry season (May–October) makes the granite slabs easier. Wet season makes the forest more dramatic but slick.
The trails
- Copolia — 45 min each way, the easy one with the great viewpoint.
- Morne Blanc — 1 hour each way, pitcher plants and west-coast views.
- Trois Frères — 2.5–3 hours each way, the harder one with the best central view.
- Anse Major — coastal trail from Bel Ombre (separate trailhead).
How to get there
Drive the Sans Souci road from Victoria. The visitor centre is at the top. Buses run but infrequently — much easier with a car.
What’s nearby
Mission Lodge, Sans Souci tea factory, the start of the cross-island drive to Port Glaud and Port Launay.
