Domaine de Val des Près

Not verified.Claim this listing

Domaine de Val des Près is a restored 19th-century plantation house and craft village in the central Mahé hills, near Anse aux Pins. The grounds include the original main house (now a small museum), workshops for batik, woodcarving, leather and pottery, and a Creole restaurant. Open Mon–Sat, no admission fee.

The craftspeople work in the open — you can watch a batik artist hand-paint a sarong, a carver shape a coco de mer-style pendant, or a leatherworker make sandals. Pieces are for sale, prices are fair, and everything is locally made.
