Seychelles ranks higher per square kilometre on honeymoon bookings than any other country on earth. The reason is straightforward: small private beaches, very high-end accommodation, photogenic everywhere, and a culture that quietly leaves couples alone.
The shape of the trip
The classic honeymoon is three islands across 10 days: a few nights on north Mahé to acclimatise, four to six nights on Praslin or a private island, two nights on La Digue. Some couples skip Mahé entirely and fly straight to Praslin. Others do all 10 on a single private-island resort.
Where to stay (and why)
| Property | Why honeymooners pick it |
|---|---|
| North Island | 11 villas total, private beach per villa, the most private property in the country |
| Six Senses Zil Pasyon (Félicité) | 30 villas, every one with infinity pool, hidden coves |
| Frégate Island Private | 16 villas, tortoise sanctuary, two beaches per stay |
| Constance Lemuria (Praslin) | Three-beach resort with Anse Georgette behind the golf course |
| Raffles (Praslin) | 86 villas, all-pool, large enough for variety |
| Hilton Northolme (Mahé) | Adults-only, headland views, easier price point |
| Le Domaine de l’Orangeraie (La Digue) | Plantation aesthetic, central La Digue, cycling distance from everything |
| Banyan Tree (Mahé) | Direct onto Anse Intendance, signature spa |
What honeymooners actually do
- Spend more time at the resort than they expect to (which is the point).
- One half-day to Vallée de Mai if on Praslin.
- A private boat day. Curieuse + St-Pierre, or Cousin + Aride, with skipper and lunch.
- A sunset sail from Praslin or Mahé.
- A spa day (the resorts here run good ones).
- An anniversary photo session. Even if you didn’t plan one (it’s the kind of place that earns the photos).

When to honeymoon
April, May, September, October, November are the sweet spot. Settled seas, fewer people, prices 20% below peak. July/August has the best weather but the highest rates and most other couples. Late January through March can be wet but very quiet and cheap.
Frequently asked questions
Is Seychelles or Maldives better for honeymoon?
Different. Maldives is single-island resort culture, more uniform luxury, easier logistically. Seychelles is more varied geography, more to do beyond the resort, slightly more ‘real country’. Many couples pick Seychelles for the second trip after Maldives.
Can I do Seychelles on a tighter honeymoon budget?
Yes. Mid-tier hotels on Mahé and Praslin (Hilton Northolme, Constance Ephelia non-villa, Acajou on Praslin) run EUR 250–400/night and look identical in the photos.
What about flights?
Direct from Europe (Paris, Frankfurt seasonal) or one-stop via Dubai/Doha. Plan the trip with a buffer day either side. International flights into Mahé can run late.
