Seychelles is unusually good for hiking. The granite mountains in the centre of Mahé give real altitude, the trails are well-signposted, and you often share them with the endemic flora and a few birds. Bring water, start early, and watch the heat.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a guide for these hikes?
Anse Major, Copolia, Morne Blanc and the Vallée de Mai loops are well-signposted and safe solo. Trois Frères and Conception benefit from a guide. Morne Seychellois NP visitor centre books guides.
Best time of day to hike?
Start by 7–8am. Trails on the exposed coast (Anse Major, Glacis) get brutal mid-afternoon. Forest trails (Vallée de Mai, Morne Blanc) stay comfortable all day.
Are there dangerous animals?
No snakes, no large mammals, no problem insects. The only real risk is dehydration and heat.
