ANSE POSSESSION
A calm, shallow beach on the sheltered north coast of Praslin, between Côte d’Or and Anse Boudin. Quiet, easy water and a relaxed local feel.
Shallow waters & calm waves draw visitors to this bayside beach for swimming, snorkeling & fishing.
Along the north coast of Praslin
Anse Possession lies on the protected north shore of Praslin, strung along the coast road between the resort stretch of Côte d’Or and the quieter Anse Boudin. It is an unshowy, everyday sort of beach, the kind locals use, and that is a good part of its charm. Its name recalls the spot where France once laid claim to the island, a small footnote of history in the sand.
The water is shallow and usually calm here, protected by the reef offshore, which makes it gentle for wading and easy swimming. Takamaka and casuarina trees line the sand and give patches of shade, and there is space to spread out well away from the busier beaches.
Easy, sheltered and unhurried
This is a beach for a slow, simple day rather than dramatic scenery. The calm shallows suit families and anyone who just wants to float, and the reef gives gentle snorkelling when the water is clear. It rarely feels crowded.
There is little in the way of facilities, so bring what you need, though the shops and restaurants of Côte d’Or are a short way along the coast. It also sits handily on the road to Anse Boudin, where the boats cross to Curieuse and its tortoises.

★★★★Nice, quiet place. Nothing happening. Shops and restaurants not close. Gentle atmosphere. Some villas for rent. Dogs bark at night.

Bring your own shade and water and settle in for a slow one. This is a gentle local beach rather than a sight, ideal for easy swimming, and a calm stop before a Curieuse boat trip from nearby Anse Boudin.
